Miss Nicole set up a new provocation for our Friday Afternoon Preschool class on the Tuff Tray - Noodle Stacking!
The Tuff Tray had plates of penne pasta, and balls of playdoh with long, thin wooden dowels placed inside so they were standing vertically. The question read "Can you stack the noodles?"
This is a wonderful activity for helping to improve fine motor dexterity. The children must use their pincer grasp to hold the noodle as they place it on the wooden dowel. Strengthening the pincer grasp is fundamental for the development of pre-writing skills.
This is a great activity you can try at home too! Don't have any wooden dowels? Spaghetti would also do the trick!
